This post discusses the concept of “Conscious Manifestation” (i.e. the exact steps required to get what you want) through the lens of Human Design. It also covers what I’m calling “Marketing By Design”, i.e. How to do your marketing for ANY business in accordance with your Human Design (Energy Field) Type. You can use this post to improve any business, create more of any kind of relationship you would like, and really bring in anything you want.
Whilst I am focused on marketing for business here, I want to be clear. This information does not replace things like Social Media advertising, or other kinds of advertising, handing out business cards at networking events, or participating in strategic Joint Ventures… this info simply informs which of these you choose, why you might choose them, and how you use those ones you do choose.

This post is focused on the two groups that are like cousins because they are so similar. Together they make up approx. 68% of the population and they are called Generators and Manifesting Generators. (I call them Gen and MGen for short).
Each of the five Human Design Types (four if you put these two together, which for this high level purpose I do), has their own Strategy for the way they are designed to interact with other people and opportunities. Since any business is full of relationships with people and choosing between or chasing after opportunities, I consider it vital to know what works for you and what doesn’t. Most people (myself included until about a year ago) slowly and painfully work this business of being in business through trial and error.
We listen to “experts” who have gained levels of success in their business that we might only dream of, and yet when we try and follow someone else’s footsteps we may be disappointed by the level of success we achieve. If our teacher or mentor has a different Design Strategy to us, no matter how much ‘luck’ they’ve had with it, if it is not our True Strategy, then we’ll just keep hitting brick walls.
The Strategy for the Gen and MGen (note – not the Manifestor, you guys are different and I’ll talk about you in coming weeks) your Strategy is… “To Respond”. (You’ll see both your Type and this Strategy in the text below your body graph on your free chart).
So what does that mean, “To Respond”?
Well, it means it’s time for you to begin releasing the conditioning of the outside world, that has probably been reinforced since you’ve been in business, where you’ve been told if you want success in your business and satisfaction in your work then you have to “make it happen”.
All those business coaches, mentors and speakers who pushed you to “pick up the phone”, “knock on doors”, “hand out flyers”, “approach companies”, “buy lists”, “gain prospects”… didn’t know what they were talking about… for YOU.
This Strategy is true for a small percentage of people, but you’re not in that group if you’re a Gen or MGen. Your job is much like Rhonda Byrne outlined in The Secret…
1. Have an idea, or feel an inspiration move through you
And then rather than go and “make something happen” or “take it out into the world”…
2. Journal, Vision Board, and/or Imagine it in detail
Get super, super clear on the “WHAT”, i.e. all the details about what it is and what it will feel like to have it. Leave out any detail that is not important (for example, if you want another $1000 per month to come into your business but you don’t mind which of your products or programs creates it, then don’t limit the options).
3. Let it go to the Universe/ God/ Source to take care of the “HOW”
The mind is a sneaky bugger. Once you’ve come up with that great idea, it will insist it now needs to work out “how” you’re going to get what you want. My best advice, and the advice of all those Conscious Manifestation teachers before me, is Let It Go. We’ve been so conditioned to think we need to work out the “how”, come up with the plan, create a strategy and follow the steps. The longer I play this game, the more I disagree with and move away from this conditioning. I have a clever mind. I really do. It comes up with clever stuff all the time and it knows it. But when I remind it that by “letting go” and allowing the Universe to come up with the How, we then get the collective intelligence of all 7 billion minds on the planet, (plus a whole lot of other helpful energies as well), then my mind stops arguing immediately. It knows it can’t win that argument, so it stops trying.
4. Go make popcorn/ watch a movie/ go for a run/ tickle your children/ (insert activity here that will fully captivate you and allow you to STOP thinking about the thing you want to create or client you want to attract)
The trick is to distract your mind long enough for the Universe to go reconfigure the energy around you, do some magic and bring you the thing you asked for, probably in a way that totally surprises the heck out of you. It’s when you stop thinking about it, when you forget about it, that it can happen. So “let go and let God” as they say. It’s so much fun watching stuff show up in the most unexpected ways!
5. Within 24-48 hours what you asked for, or some that will directly lead you to what you asked for will turn up
It is helpful to nurture a greater sense of presence in your life. Not only because you’ll feel better and enjoy life more, but also because it will be easier to notice when the stuff you asked for has turned up! Sometimes it will be the exact thing you asked for, however if it feels like a big thing you’ve asked for, you may get the next step that you need to take in order to receive the whole gift.
6. Your job is TO RESPOND to what shows up
As a Gen or MGen when you have had something external to you, your body and your mind show up, then go ahead and respond to it! Your response might be to tell the person in front of you more about you and your work, because they’ve displayed a problem your product or service solves. Your response might be a Yes to an opportunity someone has presented that you can see will grow your business. Or… it might be a No, because you realise that what you asked for and what you’ve now manifested you don’t actually want anymore because you’ve had new insights. No response is “wrong”, you need to respond in whatever way is true for you, in the timeframe that is correct for you.
Note: If nothing shows up…
1. Do not initiate. WAIT. (Conditioning will be strong, but that’s exactly what you want to change!)
2. If waiting an unreasonable amount of time (if nothing within a couple of days) then pull out a journal and begin free writing the answer to this; “What are all the reasons why I think this thing I want hasn’t turned up?” (or a similar question that feels good to you and achieves the same aim of finding the so-called “reasons” why you aren’t getting what you say you want). What you will then have are a list of beliefs that are blocking what you asked for and then you can use a belief change process like tapping or something else in your toolbox to clear them out.
