6/2 Ego Projector

In Human Design it’s very common to refer to yourself by a series of numbers and words that help people understand something about who you are.

This phrase (as you can see in the title) has three parts:

* Your “Profile” (the numbers that talk to your character),

* Your “Inner Authority” (how you’re designed to make decisions), and

* Your “Type” (how your aura or energy field influences your day-to-day behaviour).

Together these three things tell us quite a lot about you and are a really good starting point for your journey into Human Design. In this post, I'm going to break each part down for you so you can start to make sense of this jargon and do something useful with it!

First: Let's look at the numbers (aka your Profile)

6/2 Ego Projector

There are two important numbers that are usually shown in the text section of your Human Design chart next to the word Profile. In HD circles it's quite common to introduce yourself to others by telling them what these two numbers are as it helps people understand who you are and how you operate.

There are 12 possible Profiles and they're all made up of two different numbers between 1 and 6. Once you understand what they mean you'll realise it tells you a lot about the character you've been playing in this incarnation.

So, without further ado let me talk you through what the Profile below tells us about you.

If your life felt like it got off to a bumpy start, please know that’s a common experience for those with a 6/2 Profile. You have a really important role in this life and with that mission comes a long, transformative process for you to go through.

The “6”, most often referred to as the “Role Model” is ultimately here to become a wise elder who leads by example. To support you in becoming this you experience a lot in the first 29 years or so of your life. If you’ve already made it through this stage, you’ll know that you had many trials, challenges, hardships and so many adventures you could probably make a whole TV series about your life!

Thankfully, life settles down a bit as you approach 30 and you spend the next couple of decades focused on your own process. To become that Role Model you were born to be it’s important to prioritise healing and integrating as many of those experiences, releasing the pain and allowing the lessons to rise to the surface during this time.

Now, the other part of you, the “2” also known as the “Hermit” loves this stage of your Role-Model-in-making life because it lovvvvvvves being tucked away from the well-meaning intentions of others. Your Hermit self couldn’t really care less about teaching anyone anything.

This part of you just wants to study things that fascinate it, potter in the garden or around the house, read a good book or get lost in a wonderful puzzle. Self-absorbed, deeply spiritual, curious about whatever it’s into and blissfully ignorant about topics that don’t fascinate it, the Hermit is happy being alone for extended periods of time.

Your Hermit self doesn’t realise that the reason people keep knocking on your door, trying to get you to come out and play with them is because you’re naturally gifted and they want you to share these gifts with them. But you’re clueless. You don’t realise you’re gifted, so you might decline invites because you feel too shy to share what you know.

But when you feel seen, recognised and really appreciated you may just leave your safe haven after all. At least, for a while. In the right circumstances, with people who you feel can be your playful, childlike self, you may even express a bold, magical part of you that few people see.

And somewhere around your 50th birthday, you’ll feel the pull to come back into society and into the messy human society of which you are a part, and finally be the example that people so badly need.

Rather than the conventional leader who willingly steps into the spotlight, claiming attention and glory, you are the one who will quietly lead by demonstrating what true authenticity looks like. You’ll inspire others simply by being yourself.

Second: Let's look at the first term (aka your Inner Authority)

6/2 Ego Projector

Everyone has a way to make decisions in their life that will lead to the best outcomes. Contrary to popular belief, we're not all designed to do this the same way.

Some people were born to make fast decisions, others to make them more slowly. Some people need to talk out the possible options and for others that will just confuse them.

No single way is better or worse than any other. They all have their place and what you were born with is exactly what you needed to live out your potential.

In Human Design, your Inner Authority is one of the biggest puzzle pieces for how you specifically can make the best decisions in this life. Keep reading to get to know your innate decision-making process better.

Ego is one of the terms in Human Design that gets a lot of pushback from newbies but it’s useful once you get how your decision-making process works. This Inner Authority tells us that you’re in the tiny group of people who are designed to make decisions based on what you want.

Let me repeat that in case it seems too obvious: You're designed to make decisions based on what you want.

See, it might seem obvious to you but it’s not the way most of us are designed to make decisions. Also, many societies view the speaking of our desires so clearly to be, well, egotistical. But the only way you know what’s right for you is if you let yourself express what you want and what you don’t want.

Third: Let's look at the last term (aka your Type)

6/2 Ego Projector

The last part of this series of words we use to describe you in Human Design is your Type. Broadly speaking there are five Types.

(Although some HD teachers prefer to teach four Types many of us have found that splitting the population into five broad groups is more helpful. If you’ve seen this difference between teachers, or you do in the future, please know whether it's four or five, it’s not worth losing sleep over.

Type is an imperfect way of splitting 8 billion people into different groups. While the exact right way to split us into different segments might be imperfect it's still incredibly helpful, hence why most HD teachers on the planet teach about the concept of Type. So, let's get back to the blog post as we re-focus on what’s truly helpful.)

Your Human Design Type refers to how your aura (or energy field, it’s the same thing) behaves or interacts with other people. Some people are here to start conversations, others are here to respond, and one group of people are here to do a bit of both. Some are here to take other people in deeply so they can understand them really well, while others are here to be a mirror for the people they meet.

No one Type is better than any other; they are all just a little or a lot different from the others and are all here to do different things in this life.

A Projector is here to do life entirely different to most people. If your Human Design chart says this is your Type then you naturally, without any effort see and feel and sense things that others miss.

You’re here to guide other people with the things that you know. It’s an incredibly deep and powerful gift but for you to know which people you are here to guide in this life you need a sign.

That sign will be some kind of invitation. The people you’re here to help with your insights and intuition and ideas will make it known to you that they really want your help. Not just anyone’s help but yours specifically.

Note: For you to stay healthy (or become healthy again) you’ll need to find a way to guide others that honours the immense value you bring to the table. Ideally, you’ll only guide those who truly value you and your ideal work will be one where you are paid very well for far less effort than a “normal” job demands.
