I Forgot How Confusing Human Design Can Be, Until This Happened

I have a friend who is somewhat addicted to personality profiling tools.

She knows more about Human Design than most of my long-term friends, but she’s also fluent in Numerology, Enneagram, and God knows how many other profiling languages.

Recently, she's been raving about yet another one. And while I loooooooove Human Design (clearly!), her excitement was infectious. So, I plugged in my details and was given a weird name for the kind of person I am (according to this system), as well as a lengthy page of info all about me.

It was so wordy I didn't even know where to begin in my attempts to absorb what was in front of me.

Knowing that I prefer learning via video rather than text, my friend directed me to a YouTube channel where experts explained all this stuff about this system. They seemed nice enough. They had thousands of subscribers. I trusted my friend in her recommendations.

But I was immediately lost.

There was so much jargon; they might as well have been speaking Spanish (or some other language I cannot speak) for the amount I understood. I decided that as much as my friend raved about this particular personal profiling tool, I would have to leave her to it. It felt like too much to learn an entirely new thing.

And I immediately appreciated the lesson when I realised:

This is how so many newbies feel when they find Human Design.

This feeling right here (as I noticed the anxiety in my throat).

This confusion, overwhelm, feeling lost.

The sense that “it's too hard, so why bother?”

These are some of the things I hear time and time again when people tell me about their experience of getting their first Human Design chart or report. And when I tune in, I recall that this is how I felt all those years ago when I first got my chart (that came with almost no explanation whatsoever).

It's so easy to forget, more than a decade later - with a mind full of jargon that's now a normal part of my vocabulary - that this was once hard. Very, very hard, and I felt very, very lost.

I think any time I lose touch with how challenging it can be in the beginning, God (aka Source/Life/the Universe) sends me a reminder:

“Here! Come check this out and see how this experience feels!”

Got it. Reminder received. Thank you!

So, while I end up attracting a lot of people who have found Human Design really difficult in the beginning (because I focus so much on explaining things as simply as possible, and it's in stark contrast to what they first found), this was still a timely reminder as I continue to share new resources I've created across my many online channels.

It is my belief that Human Design is so important, so helpful, and so potentially life-changing that we (HD teachers around the world) need to ensure that it's accessible to beginners.

I don't want a single person who is open, willing and ready to let Human Design help them in their life to miss out on the deep wisdom contained within this system because I didn't take the time to make it Really Damn Simple.

One of the ways I'm attempting to do this is by taking a client's request (from a wee while back) and implementing it. She said she really wanted to be taken on a journey. She wanted me to hold her hand and walk her slowly home to the truth of who she is through the lens of Human Design.

And while I've been doing this a long time with 1:1 clients, there really is a limit to how many people I can support in that format.

So, while it's taken me a while to build out the infrastructure, the new website, this mini book, as well as all the articles I've been writing in the background, are all intended to help beginners take that journey from wherever they are in the world. Even if they have tiny pockets of free time, small chunks of spare cash and live in a timezone on the exact opposite side of the world.

If you prefer videos to reading, then check out this YouTube Shorts series.

Here's to making the journey home - to the power and beauty of who you are - as simple as we possibly can.

While AI is useful for many things, it's still not very good at explaining the depth and nuance of Human Design. Instead, human beings who have been learning about and experimenting with the Human Design system for 10+ years are much better teachers of this content.
